Claremont and Weaste neighbourhood plan

Salford City Council has prepared a neighbourhood plan for the Claremont and Weaste area. The plan covers the Claremont Weaste Community Committee area covering Claremont, Weaste and Seedley.

The plan sets out a shared vision for the Claremont and Weaste area to guide its future development. The plan will assist in co-ordinating regeneration activity locally and secure the future stability of the area.

The neighbourhood plan is explicitly set within the planning policy framework provided by the adopted Unitary Development Plan (UDP) for Salford. It specifically has the status of an ‘approved regeneration strategy’ for the purposes of policy E5 of the UDP. However, despite its title, it does not constitute a neighbourhood development plan for the purposes of the Localism Act 2011.

Public consultation

In preparing the neighbourhood plan the council was informed by an advisory group comprising elected members, community representatives and the Neighbourhood manager. Public consultation on the document took place from Friday 25 January to Thursday 6 March 2008.

Adopted planning guidance

Salford City Council considered the representations received during the consultation period and the plan for Claremont and Weaste was adopted by Salford City Council on 15 July 2008.
