Planning policy in Hammersmith

Hammersmith Local Plan

On 28 February 2018, the council adopted its new Local Plan. This plan replaced the Core Strategy 2011 and the Development Management Local Plan 2013 and together with the London Plan forms the Development Plan for the borough.

Hammersmith Planning Guidance Supplementary Planning Document

Neighbourhood Development Plans

The 2011 Localism Act has introduced powers for local communities to produce a new type of community-led plan known as a Neighbourhood Development Plan (or ‘Neighbourhood Plan’, for short).

Article 4 Directions

Article 4 Directions to remove permitted development rights in the borough of Hammersmith.

Community Infrastructure Levy

This is a power which allows us to levy a charge on the net increase in gross internal area floorspace arising from new development in order to fund infrastructure that is needed to support development in the area. On 20 May 2015 and pursuant to section 213 of the Planning Act 2008, we approved the borough Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Charging Schedule. This took effect on 1 September 2015.
