Halton Local Plan

The Halton Core Strategy local plan is the most recently adopted local plan policy document for the Halton area.

It sets out the spatial vision for the borough through to 2028, and a range of strategic objectives and policies. It was adopted in April 2013.

Earlier local plan policies in the form the Halton Unitary Development Plan (UDP) was adopted by Halton Borough Council on 7th April 2005 and is made up of a Written Statement containing the policies and a Proposals Map showing where policies apply.

Since adoption a number of policies have lapsed or been superseded by policies in the Halton Core Strategy and Joint Waste Local Plans.  

The remaining 'saved' policies continue as part of the current statutory Development Plan for the borough. These will be replaced in due course by the Delivery and Allocations Local Plan.

Proposed Draft Submission (August 2019)

Halton Council published the Proposed Submission Draft of the Delivery and Allocations Local Plan (DALP) for an eight week period of consultation from 25th July 2019 to 19th September 2019.

Eventually, this Halton Local Plan will replace the remaining policies and the Proposal Map from the Unitary Development Plan including allocating land for development to 2037 and redefining the extent of the Green Belt in Halton.
