Halsall housing need

As part of the Council's housing need research, the following  summaries have been produced covering all parish areas including Halsall.

The Parish of Halsall, located on the western side of West Lancashire Borough, is for the most part a rural

farming community with two small residential areas, the larger being Halsall and the smaller being Shirdley Hill. A number of other small hamlets and farmsteads are distributed throughout the area, with ribbon development to the west of the Parish along the “moss” roads. The current housing stock is about 900 homes.

Halsall contains a church, primary school, village hall, public house, playing field with play equipment, and a sports pavilion/village hall for public use. The Leeds-Liverpool canal runs through Halsall providing a recreational tourist attraction. The Halsall church dating back to the 12th century located is the centre of Halsall village. The village green is the centre of Shirdley Hill and has recently been renovated and has won an environmental award.
